Here's the makeup that they used to achieve the look:

  • Mark Little Bronze Box
  • Mark caribbean shine lip gloss, in Walk in the Sand
  • Mark Make It Big Mascara in Raven
All products available at meetmark.com.

For those not in the know, Mark is the younger product line from beauty giant, Avon. Lauren Conrad of The Hills was (or maybe still is???) the reality spokes-chick.

Available at a newsstand near you on May 6.

WEEKLY MUST-HAVE!

Another vital product that got a lot of face time in Coachella was my MAC Tinted Lip Conditioner Stick with SPF 15. Sure, this isn't exactly a "new" product, but I adore rediscovering old favorites!!! And protecting your lips is tres importante... can you imagine gnarley, oozing, sun burned lips??? So unkissable!

The MAC Tinted Lippy is mega moisturizer with a splash of sheer color. It leaves lips soft and nourished with a slight hue. The perfect lippy for sun-time because it also has UVA/ UVB protection of SPF 15. Not only are your lips protected from burns and chapping, your precious pout also looks moisturized, colorful, and sexy!

I keep it in my bag and apply an upwards of 8 times a day. I LOVE how easily and smoothly it glides on to my lips. And with 5 sheer colors to choose from, everyone will find their special one! Personally, I dig the Strobe Current, a natural, plum with a golden red strobe pearl (very sheer). If you don't like any color, try the Strobe Beam... it's clear with a dash of strobe pearl!

So next time you're venturing to the beach, or you just want a simple lippy that hydrates and protects against the sun's harsh rays, remember my new summer fave, MAC'S Lip Conditioner!

It's all about the BODY...

I'm going to be honest.... I'm pretty low maintenance when it comes to hair products. I know, ironic, considering I am a beauty fanatic. But every now and then, I find a hair product that I absolutely love. And I can't wait to share it with you!

My dear friend Allison Melnick (queen Bee of the party scene - NYC to LA) lives for a good party... and thick, gorgeous hair. Literally. It's always done, always curled, always volumized. We were in Coachella this past weekend and I wondered how she was going to survive without her professional blow-out team. The weather in Palm Springs is super hot and dry - it's hard to breathe and even harder to keep your hair looking sexy and done up!

But Allison came armed with her two best friends.... a ceramic 1 1/2 inch curling iron and Sebastian's Body Double Thick-Finish Volumizing Hair Spray. She claimed that this hairspray was a God-sent. The best of the best. "It's lightweight yet really adds volume." She sprayed practically half the bottle onto her hair, making sure to spruce up the ends as well (because, as she said, if you spray the ends, the entire curl will hold). I was so intrigued by this misty spray, I tried it myself. And I've gotta say, it's pretty fabulous. Not only did it hold my curls, it didn't make my hair stiff or unmanageable the way other sprays tend to do. And it really did create body!

A word (or several...) from the company:
"A lightweight finishing spray, unique in that it is the world's first aerosol thickening volumizing hairspray that employs the exclusive Bondstyling Technology to create a look that is lightweight, has a natural feel and continues to build thickness. This hairspray is the first to incorporate the revolutionary process that increases intra-hair volume for the look and feel of naturally thick hair."

A word (or several...) from Allison:
"I like my men stiff and hard, not my hair."

And there you have it. For thick hair sans the stiffness, you must try Sebastian's Body Double. It'll last all night long, no matter what "activities" you have in store!

Clean Teeth All The Time

I'm OBSESSED with this new product... DentaBurst... an on-the-go tooth brush of sorts.
Here's what it is: Pre-packaged freshening teeth cleaners that freshen breath and remove the plaque!
They are SO fun and easy to use. I've been carrying the package around in my purse, handing them out to friends, and everyone agrees... this is an AMAZING product!

How to use:

Step One - Open package and remove the "finger." This is what has the toothpaste type substance on it.
Step Two - Put it on your finger and begin brushing.
Step Three - Throw it away when finished.

It's that easy!

WEEKLY MUST-HAVE!

A perfectly tanned face, sans the sun, is always a feet worth working toward. What if I told you that you can get a healthy bronzed glow AND hydration all in one dollop of cream?

Allow me to introduce Tarte's Sunburst Beaded Bronzing Facial Moisturizer - an oil-free moisturizer with a splash of bronzed color.

Let me clarify. It's not a tinted moisturizer, as it doesn't have a foundation base, thus it doesn't aid in evening skin-tone or coverage. So, you can still keep your Laura Mericer's tinted moisturizers in your makeup bags! This is a bronzing moisturizer... it adds a healthy does of color, leaving you looking like you just stepped out of Mexico. Or Hawaii. Or the Caribbean. You get the point.

Here's how it works. The bronzing beads in the moisturizer BURST on contact with skin, delivering exactly the right dose of sun-burnished glow. Amazing!

Hair-crazed Jenny
told me that I must try this product immediately (she's OBSESSED.. says her skin has never looked healthier) and she was right.... it does not disappoint! In fact, it leaves my skin with such the perfect tanned color, I really never need the sun again.... ever!!!

Try it and save yourself years of inevitable wrinkles and sun-damage!

Nail Therapy, Spring 2008

Boots, down jackets, gloves... back to storage. Out come the sun dresses, bikinis and sandals!
Spring IS here!!!

What better way to get those feet in Spring form then by dishing on a few great products - designed especially for your nails and toes.

Pedicures are fabulous but in between appointments, you still need to do some major "foot work."

Here are my Nailtiques picks for stunning feet:

Avocado Foot Creme - a green, super emollient, non-greasy foot moisturizer. Great for chapped heels and calloused areas.

TIP FROM NAILTIQUES: Cut the toes off your favorite athletic socks and slip them on after moisturizing. The cloth will massage the moisturizer into your feet, leaving while your toes free to be polished.

Oil Therapy - vitamin enriched, soothing oil to moisturize and soften cuticles and dry, flakiness.

TIP FROM NAILTIQUES: Add a few drops of this Nailtiques Oil Therapy to hot water to soften feet before exfoliation. Once you’ve scrubbed, reapply Nailtiques Oil Therapy to unpolished nails and buff away unwanted ridges.

Cushioned Sponge Files - Two-sided for shaping and removing stains and ridges. The result is shiny, soft, perfect nails!

TIP FROM NAILTIQUES: Pair with Nailtiques Oil Therapy and buff away dry, cracking nails.

Terry Akins of Nubar nail polishes gives her Spring/ Summer polish picks:
" Any shade of Pink is hot for Spring /Summer. To add a splash of color to offset neutrals, try a bright pink Like nubar Geisha Blaze and if you want something to go with any outfit , try a neutral pink such as nubar Sheer Bliss polish."

And Dazzle Dry creator, Dr. Vivian Valenty, gives her polish picks for Spring/Summer (all colors are from the Dazzle Dry collection):
Heart of Fire - deep pink
Rose Quartz - semi sheer pink
Pedal to the Metal - soft pink

It looks like pink is the color to sport! Have a favorite pink polish? Let us know!

High Définicils, 2008

Lancome's coveted Définicils mascara just got a make-over... And I'm LOVING it!

All throughout high school I was a major fan of the Définicils mascara (first launched in 1991), as it did justice to my lashes. But then I got bored, as I usually do with products. I wanted something new, something different. And I traveled the makeup counters at Sephora and Barneys searching for my new fave mascara. Over the years I've found many - I LOVE Prescriptives Fake Lashes and Fresh's Supernova. I also had a mild obsession with Cover Girl's Lash Exact Waterproof Mascara. And now I'm back to Lancome.

Since 1991, Lancome has introduced 3 Définicils mascaras into the family:
Définicils - The Original: Straight brush coats lashes evenly, from base to tips, for a perfectly defined and separated look.
Définicils Pro 2007: Curved brush deposits more product at the root of the lash for a fuller look.
High Définicils 2008: Soft rubber brush offers effortless glide for individually separated and lengthened look.

It's no secret that there are a few necessities to a good mascara. I like something that lengthens, darkens and doesn't clump. I also love a rubber wand that allows easy access for those hard to reach hairs.

Lancome's revamped High Définicils does ALL that! I love, love, love it!!!

Have you tried High Définicils 2008.... thoughts?

Aromatherapy + Perfume = Seduction

Here's an idea... a perfume that relaxes, de-stresses and calms, while STILL offering a delicious fragrance... Hmmm.... smart.

Looks like I've found it! SCENSOIR parfum de reves is a treatment perfume. It combines aromatherapy properties with classic perfumery. The oil rollers come in three distinct scents, ce, em, and el, and they are available as a trio set or individually.

It's a very seductive experience... the oils come in a sleek matted black roller and once dotted onto your skin, they evoke a beautifully pungent scent. I love that they feel and smell natural, not like most perfumes which can actually leave my neck and palms red and irritated from all of the synthetic fragrant ingredients. Scensoir is free of alcohol, dye and harsh preservatives so it is actually GOOD for your skin... and your mind!

A word (or several...) from the company:
"Leveraging high concentrations of naturally-derived notes which are then infused into a 100% Certified Organic Jojoba Oil base... Each product must be at least 80% naturally derived, of which at least 80% must be organic."

CE
Citrus-Floral
Top notes - lemon, orange and petitgrain.
Middle notes - Egyptian chamomile and lavender
Bottom notes - sage, thyme and sheer musk

EM
Herbaceous-Floral
Top notes - bergamot, grapefruit, mandarin, petitgrain and cedarleaf
Middle notes - marjoram, clary sage, juniperberry and neroli
Bottom notes - ginger, black pepper, cedarwood and patchouli

El **Beauty Banter Fave**
Woody-Floriental
Top notes - chamomile and bergamot
Middle notes - orris, jasmine, lavender and tuberose
Bottom notes - cedarwood, sandlewood, vanilla and musk

Trio Retails for $69.00
Single Retails for $28.00

Now if only perfumes could guarantee sex... or better yet, a lover... then we'd REALLY be set! :)

WEEKLY MUST-HAVE!

I spent the entire weekend in a salt water swimming pool (don't ask... salt water pools are the rave in L.A.). Although salt water is great for the skin and, unlike chlorine, it doesn't turn your hair green, it still does dry out my mane.

So, naturally, I needed a heavy-duty conditioner after my Sunday night wash.

I've used Pureology products before. I happen to really like their ColourMax system with the AnitFade Complex, great for color-treated hair, and the UVA/ UVB sun protection, great for summer.

And now I've discovered a new must-have. Pureology's NANOWORKS Hair Masque. It too is equipped with the AnitFade Complex (to maintain color), and an Anti-Aging Complex, which restores hair to a more youthful condition. The mask is thick, but works quickly - only 5 minutes one to two times a week. It's infused with a plethora of antioxidants like pomegranate and blueberry to restore and revitalize the hair shaft.

Summer hair is easily destroyed... sun, swim, ocean - all great for fun but bad for hair. Take precautions - a five minute masque a week could save your hair from permanent damage!!!

A Fine Frenzy's Alison Sudol...

In this Beauty Banter Exclusive, Guest Editor Di Gaeta tells us what super hot singer, Alison Sudol, of the super hot band, A Fine Frenzy, uses to keep her skin gorgeous, youthful and hydrated, while on the road...

Hello again...

So the next couple of articles will be coming to you internationally as I'm taking two weeks to go on tour with one of my favorite people, Alison Sudol, and her band A Fine Frenzy.

Ali is a beautiful girl who always looks impeccable and does her OWN hair and makeup for all of her performances, so she's a treasure trove of good tricks and lovely products. On our first night in Paris we pulled out our product bags to wash our faces and discovered a very real and shared love of Dermalogica products. We've been swapping back and fourth and we're obsessed.

Ali has turned me onto Dermalogica Precleanse. which she swears by. This product is for all skin types and it's an amazing heavy-duty makeup remover, and a great product to travel with. It's a an oil that deep cleans in a gentle non-invasive way, and can be used with or without water. Which is perfect when you can't get to a fresh source of water, which can be tricky on a tour bus or in Europe. I tried this product and loved how soft it left my skin and how easily it dissolved my incredibly thick application of mascara.

The official description: "This plant-based cleansing oil, fortified with Olive and Kukui oils, thoroughly melts layers of excess sebum (oil), sunscreen, waterproof make-up, environmental pollutants and residual skin products that build-up during the day. When water is added it transforms this hydrophilic (water-loving) formula into a milky emulsion, easily rinsing away oil-based debris from the skin's surface and allowing your recommended Dermalogica Cleanser to penetrate even further for professional cleansing results."

Ali follows this with the Ultracalming cleanser. I'm hooked on this now as well because it's great for my sensitive and slightly dry skin.
"An extremely-gentle cleansing gel-cream that combats environmental assault with Dermalogica's exclusive Anti-Ozonate Complex. Protects and soothes skin sensitized by pollution, temperature extremes, irritating cosmetic products, harsh detergents, chemical exposure, stress, poor diet or hormonal factors. Also contains Lavender, Echinacea and Raspberry extracts for their anti-inflammatory, calming and healing properties. "

I love the Skin Hydrating Booster. It's a serum that just sinks in right away and literally seal in moisture and is also appropriate for all skin types. It's also a perfect pre-makeup primer. My dermatologist is constantly singing the praises of Hyaluronic acid, which I also take internally, and this product is a really rich source of it.
"Super-saturated hydration for the driest skin conditions, this intensive hydrating fluid revitalizes parched skin. Hydrates, smoothes and minimizes fine lines with a concentrated blend of Hyaluronic Acid, Panthenol, Glycolipids and Algae Extract to restore moisture balance."

I am also indebted to, especially in this cold European weather, the AGE Smart Super Rich Repair. This cream is for mature skin, but anyone who has vitamin A raw skin or is just really dry in general will love this. I got it initially because I needed something to combat the dry flakes I was getting from the intense fade cream my dermatologist prescribed for me and fell in love with how smooth and perfect it made my skin. Everyone with dry skin I've turned onto this now has their own jar.
"Powerful peptides stimulate collagen production while an acid-free renewal complex smoothes fine lines for dramatically improved elasticity and tone. Ultra-emollient Shea Butter and Oil of Evening Primrose replenish skin with maximum hydration, relieving dryness and reinforcing skin’s natural defensive barrier. Antioxidant Soy Flavonoids shield against the extreme environmental elements that can accelerate the visible signs of aging."

So now you know our secrets for great skin. Next up, I'll be going though Ali's makeup bag to give you her favorite products. I've done her makeup for a few of her shows so far and let me tell you, I already have a list of goodies I need to get the minute I'm home...

As Ali would say...
Love, Lights, and Bunnies,

Di

Nails, Nails!

10 Things YOU Need To Know About Retinol...

Love this!

Retinol
has long been used to clear problem skin, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, minimize pore size, aid in erasing hyperpigmentation and sun damage, and exfoliate skin to bring new, healthy skin to the surface.

Thanks to Johnson and Johnson's Roc and their newest skin product,RETINOL CORREXION® DEEP WRINKLE DAILY MOISTURIZER with SPF 30, we now have a cheat sheet on how to use Retinol.

Here are the 10 things YOU need to know about Retinol:

1. Retinol products containing pure and stable Vitamin A are most effective. Retinol’s structure allows it to immediately set to work improving skin’s appearance. In contrast, Retinol esters (pro retinol, retinyl palmitate, retinyl propionate, etc.) first have to be converted into Retinol before they can begin to work.

2. Retinol fights fine lines AND deep wrinkles. Whether you’re looking to prevent future signs of aging or hoping to appear years younger, there’s a Retinol product suited to your needs. For deeper wrinkles, opt for a formula that offers an ultra-effective combination of Retinol and an Essential Mineral Complex.

3. Retinol’s strength is not only determined by its concentration. Retinol’s efficacy relies heavily on its formulation and delivery system. A product containing a higher percentage level of Retinol will not necessarily work better or faster.

4. Retinol must penetrate skin to improve it. Delivering Retinol in an encapsulated form enables it to penetrate into the skin’s surface, improving performance. Many other over-the-counter products only topically coat the skin, compromising results.

5. Retinol can degrade if not packaged properly. An air-tight, opaque tube or bottle helps maintain the formula’s stability by preventing oxygen or UV-light penetration.

6. Retinol works best when introduced gradually to your regimen. Using Retinol is like training for a marathon. Slowly build up your tolerance level—begin by applying a product containing Retinol every other day. Once your skin adjusts to this effective ingredient, you’ll be able to incorporate it into a daily skincare regimen with little chance of flaking or redness.

7. Retinol products can be safely used on sunny days. You don’t have to forego Retinol’s anti-aging benefits during daytime hours. A formula containing SPF 30 will provide adequate protection from the sun’s rays (like RoC’s newest addition, the RETINOL CORREXION® DEEP WRINKLE DAILY MOISTURIZER with SPF 30)

8. Retinol will complement AHA usage. Alpha hydroxy acids exfoliate the skin, enabling Retinol to penetrate into the skin’s surface even more efficiently. A product containing both ingredients is best used at night to avoid sensitivity.

9. Retinol can help prevent the signs of premature aging. Early use of products containing pure and stable Retinol will help to combat fine lines before they start to appear noticeable, so skin continues to look years younger than it’s true age.

10. Retinol improves more than just wrinkles. It not only reduces the appearance of fine lines and deep wrinkles, but also improves skin tone, the signs of photodamage and pore size. Combined with sun protection, it’s the gold standard in anti-aging.

A Lipstick A Day Keeps The Earth Okay

Earth Day is just around the corner (April 22) and in preparation for the celebration of our great earth, Cargo cosmetics has launched 3 new PlantLove lip shades, created by 3 celebrity moms: Kim Raver, Angie Harmon and Denise Richards (let's just forget for a moment that the latter mom is a fame hungry, wannabe "reality" star... and let's focus on the current project at hand).

A word (or several...) from the company:
"CARGO PlantLove is a revolutionary lipstick containing a lipstick tube made entirely out of corn - a renewable and abundant resource. The outer carton is also made of flower paper embedded with real flower seeds, which are plantable, so they allow you to give more green back to the earth. $2.00 from each tube sold is donated to St. Jude’s Pediatrics Research Hospital."

The new shades are: Cherry Bliss by Kim Raver, Grace and Faith by Angie Harmon and Sam and Lola by Denise Richards.
Sam by Denise Richards

Grace by Angie Harmon

I have yet to try these colors but I do love the red hue, Sam by Denise Richards. It's a sexy red for a sultry pout!

So make the Earth a better... and more beautiful place!

Touch My Body....

Just in time for Spring... Elizabeth Arden's Mediterranean Breeze Perfumed Body Shimmer is a delightful, sparkly experience for your skin!

I used it last night before jetting off to a party with friends. A couple of puffs of the powder on my arms, neck and collar bone and I was glowing like a Malibu goddess! It does add a hint of color (it's very sheer... great for ALL skin tones), but more importantly, the powder is infused with an iridescent hue that shines all night long, leaving the skin soft and smooth to the touch!

Personally, I enjoy the scent as well. It's clean and fresh and very summery.
Here are the key notes:
Top: White Nectarine, Bergamot, Sparkling Grapefruit
Middle: Corsican Violet, Wild Jasmine Petals, Sweet Almond Flower
Base: Cedarwood, Creamy Sandalwood, Sensual Skin Musks

Perfumed body shimmers keep you smelling yummy while looking sexy... the best of both worlds!

10 TIPS FOR HEALTHY SKIN

We've all heard about the plethora of products that offer the promise of a flawless face.  Some of them work, most of them don't.  A lot of it is trial and error... figuring out what regimine is right for YOUR skin.

But there are some standard practices that really do help to give you a healthy complexion.

Here are my favorite ten to remember, cherish, and use!

1 - Vitamins are vital!  Fish Oil has been proven to help in the maintenance of healthy skin and hair.  I love the Pharmax Fish Oil with Essential Oil of Orange - it's a liquid but it doesn't leave any fishy after taste. It works to give you a glowing complexion from the inside, out.

2 - Don't overwash... and don't overdry!  Too much washing or drying out of the face only leads to your oil glands actually producing more oil to compensate.  Wash twice a day, at the most! And make sure to use a gentle, non-irritating cleanser that is anti-bacterial - to eradicate bacterias that fill your pores.  Cetaphil's antibacterial gentle cleansing bar is a great choice (and an inexpensive one!)

3 - Sunblock, sunblock, sunblock!!! Even if you love a nice tan, you MUST use sunblock EVERY DAY!!! The number one cause of wrinkles is sun exposure!!!  And your sunblock should fight against UVA and UVB rays (click HERE for some great sunblock options!)

4 - Change your pillowcases every third night!  It seems arduous but the truth is, dirt, bacteria and oils from your hair seep into the pillowcases thus seeping into your skin while you sleep. It's vital to allow your face a clean, fresh fabric from which to relax and unwind.

5 - Wash your hands before going to bed!  Again, clean hands help to keep unwanted dirt and bacterias AWAY from your face.  You should really wash your hands consistently throughout the day but also before bed time.  You know how they say germs are transferred from your hands to your mouth... thus, spreading virus' and infection?  Well, the same is true with hands to face... spreading dirt and bacteria!

6 - Eye cream must be made a part of your daily regime!  Even if you have oily skin, it's imperative that you hydrate your eyes.  The skin around your eyes is a lot more tender and delicate, thus it needs special care.  Eye cream should be dabbed - not rubbed - from the outer corner, inwards... twice a day! Click HERE for some fantastic eye cream choices!

7 - Don't pick!!! This is the hardest rule for me to follow, so I'm gonna add an addendum -  If you must pick (like when that white head has taken over your entire chin...), steam your face first.  And please, I beg you, wrap your fingers in toilet paper so that you don't transfer the dirt and bacteria from your fingers to your face/ pimple.  Also, make sure to only press lightly... when you try and force the puss out, you're actually spreading it around and infecting it!

8 - Drink as much water as you can possibly handle!!! This seems like common knowledge, but the truth is, we don't drink as much water as we should.  Water flushes out all the yuckiness inside of our bodies and it promotes health, bottom line!  If you find that you're not a water-lover, try adding a flavor to your water.  I suggest Crystal Light on the go packs... they come in 10 flavors, they're low in calories and they can be added to ANY size water bottle as easily as ripping the packet open and pouring it into the bottle!

9 - Even if you're oily, you MUST moisturize!  A common misperception is that oily skin doesn't need extra hydration.... NOT TRUE!  All skin needs hydration because hydrating your skin actually balances out the oiliness.  Obviously, if you have oily or acne-prone skin, you should choose an oil-free, fragrance-free moisturizer.  Something that is light and non greasy.  There are thousands of moisturizers on the market... try them ALL until you find the one that suits your specific skin.  But don't skip this step!!!

10 - NEVER rub, ALWAYS pat!  This is true when applying creams and medicines, and when drying your face after washing.  Rubbing your skin stretches it, causing lines and wrinkles.  It also "rubs" the bacterias everywhere, infecting not only the problem areas, but the entire face. However, patting your skin - be it with a moisturizer or a wash cloth - is gentle and non abrasive to your face.  It also allows the face to truly soak up the moisturizer, medicine, and/or face wash so that you experience the full effects of said products!  When you rub, you rub off a majority of the benefits of these products as well!!!

Have a great skin tip?  We want to know it! Leave us a comment in the box below!

WEEKLY MUST-HAVE!

Sometimes, no matter how much primer or powder you apply to your face, you're still going to have to suffer from a shiny complexion!

I love oil blotting sheets... love, love, love.... and my new find is no exception!  CVS's Oil Absorbing Sheets get rid of unwanted oil and shine while still keeping your makeup in tact! Genius concept!  The sheets are packaged in a little envelope looking thing and are super easy to use while on-the-go! And even better, they're less then $5.00 for 50 sheets!

A word (or several...) from the company:

"CVS Oil Absorbing Sheets instantly absorb unwanted oil from your nose and forehead to reduce that undesirable shine. It does this with virtually no disruption of makeup. You can see the oil you remove on the sheet so you know it is doing the job. Its soft, quiet nature allows you to use the sheets anywhere without drawing attention to yourself."

These sheets are great for sweaty, humid summer nights! Buy in bulk today!!!!

***PROFESSIONAL TOP*** If you're really in a pinch, use a toilet seat cover from a public bathroom.... the seat cover will virtually do the same thing as these oil absorbing sheets, it'll absorb excess gunk... a couple of blots to the nose and forehead and you're good to go... shine-free and sexy!

Bath Time Is ME Time!

I adore a great bath! After a long day with my head buried in my computer screen, a nice, relaxing soak, a scrub, maybe some body oil, and a velvety lotion are my dreams come true!

I use different products for different seasons. For instance, Kiehl's Coriander body cleanser and lotion are my winter favorites. Something very nostalgic about the scent... it reminds me of junior high - early mornings and long days.

For Spring I wanted something fresh and tropical. Something... in full bloom. I went on a scavenger hunt through my containers of miscellaneous products and I finally found what I was looking for: ME! Not actually me, ME! Bath.... divine!

The shower sherbet is a gigantic tub (it looks like a container of ice-cream) of lovely sugar scrub that foams! It's not a harsh scrub, so it's perfect for everyday use. They have 16 delicious flavors but my favorite is Summer Rain. It's a gooey green concoction with a fresh and breezy scent.

And then there's the body icing... pure, moisturizing bliss. A combination of shea and cocoa butters, this lotion is like a souffle for the skin. It's ultra soothing and hydrating. It comes in 14 flavors, each of them good enough to eat! I really love the Papaya Nectar - it's tropical yet fruity.

The company also makes what they call, "bath ice creams," which are balls in the shape of a hardened scoop of ice-cream. The "ice creams" fizz and melt when put them in water releasing minerals, Epson Salts, and a unique six blend of oils and fragrances (very much like the infamous Fresh Bath Bombs). With over 30 scents, it's hard to choose a favorite although I'm really feeling the California Dreaming - a citrus and floral blend.

Whether you're a musky person or a fruity one, you'll find your Spring flavor in these incredible body products made exclusively for.... ME!

Skin Genesis is Sorta Genius

I've used the Cetaphil moisturizer for ages now - it's inexpensive and effective - yet, lately it's been making my skin oily. So while thumbing through a fashion magazine recently, I came across this advertisement for L'oreal's Skin Genesis moisturizing cream. The model? Well, she's really an actress with a great gig as a L'oreal spokesperson... the gorgeous and pore-free skinned, Penelope Cruz.

Yes, I must admit, I got taken by an advertisement. But, come on! Penelope Cruz has just about the greatest skin of anyone on this planet... and I can't help wanting gorgeous skin myself! I finally had a chance to try the Skin Genesis moisturizer (oil-free, of course) and, I've gotta say, I'm a fan!

The Skin Genesis Oil-Free Daily Moisturizer won the Allure Best of Beauty "Beauty Breakthrough" award in October. And the entire Skin Genesis line has been creating a lot of buzz. The technology is this:  They call it "green chemistry." Pro-Xylane, an ingredient in the product, comes from the wood of beach trees.  With this new water-based process that L'oreal uses to extract the ingredient, trees and soil are left unharmed.  Sounds cool, although I can't comment on the reality of this process.

Here's what I do know: Not only is the moisturizer oil-free, but it boosts cellular renewal to help erase fine lines. It also helps to maintain an even skin tone while keeping the skin's layers hydrated. It starts with the outer layer, and works inward, thus you look younger from the first application.  And I loved the way it felt on my skin... it definitely penetrated throughout, not leaving a greasy layer on my face.  My only problem is that it contains fragrance... and people with sensitive skin should always avoid fragrance.

Have you tried any products from the Skin Genesis line?  Have a favorite?

A Few Of My Favorite Things...

Lippies with SPF... a necessity now that the sun is finally starting to shine again!

Matahari Plumping Lip Gloss with SPF 15 - I've loved this product FOREVER... I used to get it at my tanning salon. It's glossy but not gooey and it totally plumps the pout. It's clear so it can be worn over virtually any colored lippy... AND it smells like vanilla! YUM!

C.O. Bigelow's Lip Formula with SPF 15 - Sweet almond and cotton seed oil lend to all-day moisture.  This has a waxier consistency so it's great for sun burned and wind burned lips.  It's still glossy - just a bit more subdued... AND it protects against UVA and UVB rays... must-have lippy for the beach bag!

Cherriflip Super Balm with SPF 15 - This is a great, simple gloss that truly stays on. Again, it's clear so you can wear it alone for a juicy pout, or over a colored lippy. To be honest, I have absolutely no idea where to buy this product but if anyone out there does, please let me know!

Kiehl's Lip Balm with SPF 15 in Hue No. 58B - An old time favorite, this lippy gives a dash of red for that flushed, just been kissed look.  It's incredibly moisturizing and very natural... not glossy (it's a balm, folks!), but soothing and inviting!

Revlon Super Lustrous Shiny Sheers with SPF 15 - These a more like lipsticks but they have sun protection and they come in 10 sheer shades.  They offer a dose of shine along with a subtle burst of color.  I LOVE the sheer mauvy star - a great, summer pink!
