"Hollywood Helping Haiti"

Most people say Los Angeles doesn’t have seasons, but there is no time as festive as the present as Awards Season gets underway. With so many events to celebrate the film and television highlights of the year, Beauty Banter was particularly looking forward to Melanie Segal’s “Hollywood Helping Haiti” Golden Globes Celebrity & Charity Gift Lounge. Segal, CEO of Platinum Publicity, creates fabulous events that give back. Just days after the devastating Haitian quake, the need to raise funds for food, medical care and supplies took center stage. For each celebrity guest that attended a donation was made to Haitian earthquake relief.
As guests filled the House of Blues Foundation Room, celebs like Emmanuelle Chriqui, Christopher Gorham, CCH Pounder, Stephanie Pratt, and Jesse Metcalfe signed t-shirts that will be auctioned off for Haiti. Also up for auction will be gift bags featuring clothing, makeup and other event giveaways.

I loved chatting with Pef-fekt’s Richard Anderson about Skin Perfection Gel, an amazing hybrid primer-foundation with just the right amount of coverage to make skin look flawless without looking like you have anything on. And Eminence Organics had a table full of products that looked ready to eat, from their Raspberry Pore Refining Masque to the Pear & Poppy Seed Microderm Polisher. Eco-friendly Alterna’s anti-aging Caviar haircare line includes the multitasking White Truffle Elixir which you can add to anything from your shampoo to styling products to help repair and nourish giving extra strength to the products you already love. And DDF, caught my eye with their Wrinkle Resist Plus Pore Minimizer which works like a primer to fill in lines and pores while working to exfoliate and hydrate at the same time.

I was thrilled to see the line of an old family friend, makeup maven Laura Geller, in one of the Foundation Room lounges. While her Spackle was at the primer forefront (and now comes in bronze), it is her collection of baked makeup that I really loved, like the Baked Body Frosting bronzer, which is a paraben and mineral oil-free way to get a bit of color head to toe. Also on hand was Makeup Mandy, known for her incredible brow bar, with the secrets to creating lashes that are red carpet ready.

While I’ll keep BB readers updated on the “Hollywood Helping Haiti” auctions, giving is as easy texting a quick note to the Red Cross (texting Haiti to 90999 will make a $10 contribution). Every dollar counts.

Thanks to Melanie and Platinum Publicity, as well as all the incredible companies for coming out for a fabulous cause. xo alex.
