Trend Forecasting: The Hazel Eye

I'm feeling slightly underwhelmed by the looks of this week so I thought I'd pull out a vintage picture of the eternally stunning Kate Beckinsale: a definite beauty icon for yours truly.

Pictured here at the 13th Annual Hollywood Film Festival Awards Gala Ceremony at The Beverly Hilton Hotel, Kate rocks it with teased half-up coif, seductress, glam eyes, a glossy nude pout and a golden bare shoulder.

A trend we're bound to see as spring progresses is the hazel smokey eye, less obstructive than the signature black smokey eye yet more interesting than a simple brown lid. Spring will bring more gilded lids as well so you'll see a lot of golds in the mix.

To achieve the hazel eye, try using alternate shades of hazelnut and chestnut to create a sparse smoke effect. Line upper and lower lashes with a brown pencil as opposed to black, and paint lashes with brown mascara to take the edge off. Make sure to smudge darker brown hue towards far corners of eye and below lower lash line.

Color to Try: Jouer's Chestnut Eyeshadow.
