Oily Skin Still Needs Moisture

A common misperception of oily skin is that extra moisture is bad. Not true! If you dry out your skin you are actually telling your oil glands to produce more oil. Thus, when you cease to use a moisturizer, your oil glands will actually secrete additional oil giving you that shiny complexion and regenerating the break-out cycle . UGH, what a problem!

Trust me, girlies, I can relate. I too am cursed with oily skin (at least I won't get wrinkles... as long as I stay clear from the sun!!!).

Well, here's a solution: Kate Somerville's new Oil-Free Moisturizer.


Here are the deets: A super lightweight, fragrance free moisturizer that tones and hydrates the skin. Besides offering sensitive, oily faces the necessary moisture, it also fights signs of aging! Pepha-Tight is an algae-based skin tightener that aids in firming and toning, while Red Marine Algae increases cell tunrover, elasticity and reduces fine lines. Sepilift contains a high concentration of Hydroxyproline (the main molecular component of collagen) which helps to firm the skin while stimulating collagen fibers.

Kate Somerville has long been known for her A-list facials and products with a celebrity following including Paris Hilton, Kate Walsh and Kirsten Dunst (they swear by Kate in a Jar - a mini facial in a bottle!).

The new Oil-Free Moisturizer is sure to create quite a stir among celebrity faces! It's amazingly soothing and light. My favorite part about the product is the packaging. The jar has a unique applicator - you don't dip your hands into the cream, instead, you press the top down and a dollop of moisturizer escapes from the tiny hole in the middle (like the alcohol dispensers at the nail salon). It's effective because you never stick dirty fingers into the jar, contaminating the contents! The moisturizer always stays potent and clean, thus your skin is always protected from grime (make sure to wash hands thoroughly before applying face products... DUH). This moisturizer worked wonders on my oily, incredibly sensitive mug! My face was glowing (and not from excess oil) all day long. I appeared well rested and my complexion felt smooth and firm. I definitely felt celebrity status!

A Facial a Day...

I finally used my Kate Sommerville Free Facial Card! The facial was incredible - if you live in, or around, the West Hollywood area, I urge you to try a facial immediately! I did the Purify Facial, a 35-45 minute treatment to clean the skin and rid it of impurities.

Here is my new cleansing regimine (given to me by my Kate Sommerville Skin Expert):

CLEANS: Purify Exfoliating Cleanser day and night
EXFOLIATE: Kate in a Jar 2 times a week for 30 seconds
MASK: Clearing Mask 1 time per week and as spot treatment when necessary
MOISTURIZE: Goat Milk Cream day and night
SUN CARE: Protect SPF 30 day

VITAMINS: (taken internally) Healthy Skin Formula - as directed

My two favorite products that were used on my skin were, Kate in a Jar and the Goat Milk Cream.

Kate in a Jar is like a mini facial in a bottle. Even if you don't live in Los Angeles, with this product you can have a bit of the Kate Sommerville experience. It left my skin completely restored and radiant (even despite the blotchy redness from extractions)! I felt like a new me... with new skin to boot! PRICE: $85.00 (and worth every penny!)


The Goat Milk Cream is a daily moisturizer packed with milk proteins, vitamins and amino acids. Goat milk helps to heal and nurture the skin while the amino acids soothe and condition. I have very sensitive, blotchy and oily skin. Some skin practitioners will tell you not to use a moisturizer but I disagree. Even with oily and acne prone skin, it is imperative that you condition the skin as to allow normal secreation of oil. If you dry out your face too much, the oil glands try and compensate thus creating more oil. This is why the break-out cycle continues. The Goat Milk Cream added the perfect amount of hydration to my face without looking shiny or feeling oily. I left the facial feeling renewed, despite the 35 minutes of prodding with my skin! About Last Night...

Last night, I went to a party for Hanes Comfortique Pops Up on Melrose Place Hosted by Jennifer Love Hewitt!
Parties are fun, but the real reason to show up is for the gift bag on the way out!
Last night's gift bag came filled with Hanes goodies... t-shirts, tankes, boy shorts and boxers... if I had a boyfriend, I'm sure he'd love the freebee's.
However, tucked neatly in the inner pocket of the zebra-striped beach bag was the real treat...
A gift certificate for a free skin conseltation AND facial at famed LA facialist, Kate Somerville!!! (it's the place where Paris and Kirsten Dunst call their second bathroom...) How exciting! Going next week for my facial! Will let you know my thoughts then...

Some beauty-full celebs at the event: J Love, obvi, Tara Subkoff and a radiant Amber Valletta spoting a brown do- I swear, she's like a fine wine... keeps getting better with age!
