Girl Crush: Rosie Huntington Whiteley

I'm a girl that can appreciate another girl's beauty. My guy friends find this quality really "cool" as I'm constantly on the hunt for hot chicks to set them up with. While I'll be the first to tell you that beauty is SO MUCH MORE than exterior, there is something to be said for first impressions - what first catches your eye.

I can't think of anyone who has caught my eye like model/ actress Rosie Huntington Whiteley in quite some time (perhaps Sienna Miller days? I have a crazy girl crush on Sienna!). I find her 10 times sexier than Megan Fox, more stunning than half of the super models out there - with the curves to match - and she's got such an interesting face, with the wide-set blue eyes, gorgeous skin and sexy pout.

A few other girls who I'm loving these days are Natasha Poly (I did an Inspiration post on her - click here for a recap), actress Isabel Lucas, and redheaded beauty Cintia Dicker (I'll be writing more in depth about both in the coming weeks).

But this post is dedicated to my current girl crush - Rosie - and her current night out on the town (below) - the Moscow premiere for Transformers 3. WOW, did she look smashing, as per usual.

Celebrity makeup artist Monika Blunder was on hand to makeover the actress.... here, she dishes on how to recreate the sex goddess look:


INSPIRATION:

“Rosie's dress was a Fall 2011 Gucci gown, honestly I thought it was so breathtakingly sexy and glamorous. All I wanted was a little stain on her lips and very minimal makeup.”

GET THE LOOK:

“This look was all about her lips and the rest was super minimal... I first applied CHANEL Pro Lumiere Professional Finish Makeup in Beige all over. I wanted her skin to have a very finished and flawless look to it.

I wanted her eyes to be very minimal, all I used was a  few coats of NARS Larger Than Life Mascara, and a few individual lashes. I also applied a few coats on the bottom lashes, using Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara, the little brush is great to reach all the little bottom lashes.  On her cheeks I used Smashbox Blush Rush in Chiffon, and a bronzer by Mark cosmetics.  Finally, on her lips I used CHANEL Rouge Allure Satin Lip Colour in Imagination. Instead of using a lip brush, I transferred the lipstick on my ring finger and then dabbed the color into the pout, giving the lips a much more natural look.”

GIRL CRUSH: Rachel McAdams

I ADORE Rachel McAdams. I mean, how could you not? From Mean Girls to The Notebook (swoon) to every role she's played since, Rachel has stolen the screen with her beautiful looks and free spirit!

While in Cannes promoting her upcoming film projects, Rachel's been seen in a variety of different dresses - and faces. From more modern lips and hair to a throwback to Old Hollywood glamour, her sister and makeup artist Kayleen McAdams has been on hand to work her magic.

My favorite look thus far: The glamour girl from Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris Premiere. Rachel looks like a true movie star with that gorgeous, smoky eye and I'm loving a little Veronica Lake exaggerated side-part with a fluffy curl....

Inspiration:

“For the Midnight in Paris premiere, the hair was 40’s inspired and was an inspiration for the makeup in that I wanted to go the opposite in style from the hair. Rachel's hair is a gorgeous shade of blonde right now so I chose to do a bronzy sun kissed surfer girl glow. This look was all about warm, healthy looking skin and a fresh glow to go against the strong hair and the strong structure of the dress." - Kayleen McAdams

“Again I used Cle de Peau Cream Foundation, Amazing Concealer, and MAC Pressed Powder for a flawless complexion.  This time we wanted to go with a more dramatic eye, and keep the lips natural.  I lined her eyes with NARS Soft Touch Shadow Pencil in Skorpios, a shimmery iridescent copper shade.  I then used the burgundy shade from the CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Spices all over the lid, and applied two coats of CoverGirl LashBlast Fusion Mascara in Very Black. On the apples of her cheeks, I used NARS Blush in Lustre, a sheer golden apricot shade, and for a sun kissed bronzy look, I used Nuxe Cream Bronzer.  To finish the look and create a soft shimmer, I used a light dusting of Kevyn Aucoin The Celestial Powder in Candlelight.  Finally, on her lips I used NARS Lip Gloss in Belize, a light gloss with just a tiny bit of gold shimmer." - Kayleen McAdams

Girl Crush: Gisele

In my opinion, Gisele is one of the hottest chicks on the planet, period. I was at a party the other night (actually, it was hair mastermind - Gisele's mane man, Harry Josh's Spring Fling) and there stood Gisele and her hubby, the equally hot Tom Brady and, I swear, my eyes never veered from Gisele. She is that radiant and magnetic in person.

I did, however, mention, in passing, to Tom Brady that he could possibly use a hair cut. It's true! His hair is getting a bit long and unruly and I felt I owed it to him to be honest - after all, I kinda know what I'm talking about when it comes to beauty. And if I was throwing a football all crazy, I'd hope he'd impart the same honesty on me.

Anyway, back to the beautiful Gisele.

Harry Josh, Gisele's go-to stylist, dishes on her Met Ball 'do. Styles past:  She's done the pony (who could forget that), the beach-chic curl, the tightly wound chignon, and now it's some Old Hollywood Glam with a heavy side part and a simple wave.

GET THE MET BALL HAIR:

Although Giselle's hair is already luminous and healthy, Josh began with John Frieda Full Repair Perfect Ends Sheer Mist before blow drying to protect her tresses from the heat and seal the cuticles for flawlessly shiny waves.

Josh started by blow drying Gisele’s hair, curling each piece carefully and setting it to keep the shape. The curls were then brushed out to create a soft and sleek wave throughout. John Frieda Full Repair Touch-Up Flyaway Tamer was used which weightlessly smoothes flyaways for a polished red carpet look.

“I wanted to go for a sleek, sophisticated style for Gisele this year. The Met Ball is fashions biggest night and I thought this was the perfect look to complement the evening. The John Frieda Touch-Up Flyaway Tamer will keep her photographer ready all night,” says Harry.

Harry is a genius when it comes to hair and he's quite a rock star when it comes to throwing parties, too. He may just be my favorite new hair dude! And, of course, he handles the locks of Gisele... what's not to like?

Girl Crush: Anna Paquin

As if we don't want to see Scream 4 badly enough... the red carpet for the premiere was smoking with Hollywood's sexiest ladies!

I thought that everyone put on their A-game but my favorite was definitely Anna Paquin. Granted, I may be a bit biased as I am a MASSIVE fan of True Blood. Regardless, she looked incredible. From the brown smoky eye, to the pink-stained Spring lip, to the tan skin --- and that hair! A perfectly messy chignon to give her a fun and flirty sophistication without being too serious or old-fashioned.

Celebrity hair stylist Giannandrea created the mane look and here's what he had to say:

INSPIRATION:
“My inspiration for Anna’s hair at the Scream 4 premiere was Grace Kelly rock chic.  It was quite simple, but she felt very cool and beautiful.”

GET THE LOOK:
“I started by applying Kerastase Volume Active Mousse to wet hair, all over the head, roots and length. I then dried the whole head with just warm air - no brushing - just using my hands from side to side, back and forth, down and up all around, in order to keep a natural feel and build volume at the roots. Next I brushed the hair with a Mason Pearson brush and used Klorane Dry Shampoo Powder all over just to add some dry texture.

I began to pull the hair back gently on the side and very soft at the top as I wanted it to look natural in a way that wasn't too constructed, almost as if she did it herself. I then began to twist the hair in the back into a soft messy bun.  I use straight pins and twist each pin on to the sides, back and all around the head in order to create a clean visual texture. A bit of messiness and a few flyways are ok. I finished the look with Framesi Hair Spray.”


Doesn't sound too difficult... perhaps a new 'do for Saturday night?

GIRL CRUSH: Uma Thurman

It's been awhile since we've seen Uma Thurman walking a red carpet... and it was SO worth the wait! At Tuesday night's LA premiere of her new film, Ceremony, directed by my friend Max Winkler, (it's a must-see!), Uma looked fierce as ever. She put a contemporary twist on the staple braid, with flowing strands of curls, and did thick liner and lashes paired with a mauveish pink pout. Her hair hue wasn't too blonde, more golden like a modern-day Rapunzel.

At 40 years old, the actress has never looked better (or more youthful). Loving it!

Here's how to get the hair, straight from celeb stylist David Babaii, who tamed the tresses:

*David prepared Uma's freshly washed and conditioned hair by massaging a dime size amount of Couture Colour Pequi Oil Treatment into her tresses from roots to ends, combing it through with a wide tooth comb for even distribution.

*Next, he used a blow dryer to dry the hair with a large round brush, lifting the root area for added volume and cupping the ends under for a smooth, rounded finish.

*After drying, he applied an additional amount of Pequi Oil for control and then loosely gathered the hair with his fingers and braiding it into a long, loose braid down the center back.

*He secured it with a rubber band while leaving the shorter top and side layers free.

*To finish, David created soft loose curls with a 1 ½" curling iron by taking large sections and wrapping them around the inside barrel, holding for a few seconds.

*He then released allowing the curls to fall naturally to achieve a true French Bohemian Look.

So simple, I could totally rock this red carpet 'do at home! Watch out, Friday night...

Paris Fashion Week and Chanel Runway Beauty - GET THE LOOK!

A TON went down in Paris this past week. Kate Moss made a smoking (legitimate, like with a cigarette) return to the runway at Louis Vuitton, Galliano was fired from Dior and Lady Gaga opened the Thierry Mugler show.  WOW, what a week!

So, despite all the theatrics that occurred, we wanted to touch upon the beauty of one of our favorite fashion houses: Chanel. The faces were epic with a smoldering, metallic grey eye and a kick-ass gun metal nail polish (dying over!).

GET THE LOOK: Natalie Portman at the Oscars

This is one of my favorite looks from last night. Natalie had that true movie star vibe going on. The side-swept hair was very Old-Hollywood and the makeup channeled a modern day Sophia Loren.

Makeup artist Eileen Kastner-Delago created a glowing look for Natalie Portman, the face of Miss Dior Cherie. "I was inspired by her dress so I went with more purple tones," said Kastner-Delago.

Sunday night's Grammy Awards brought out all the crazies -- and beauties. This, here, is one of my favorite looks by rising country star (you are correct if detecting an air of sarcasm... stick to the movies, sister!) Gwyneth Paltrow... (note how her fuschia nails match the feather earrings - fierce!):

MAKEUP:

CHANEL Celebrity Makeup Artist Angela Levin

"I wanted sexy rock chic for Gwyneth!  After applying a light layer of
CHANEL Hydramax + Active Moisture Cream and waiting about ten minutes for
it to absorb, I applied CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting
Makeup in BR20 (available in March).  For the eyes I chose CHANEL Soft
Touch Eyeshadow in Cinnamon,  smoking the eyes, and also on the lower lash
line. And of course tons and tons of CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Noir! For
concealer I used CHANEL Lift Lumière Smoothing and Rejuvinating Concealer
in Rose Lumière in a half moon shape blending almost to the hair line and
into the temples next to eye brow.  I used round motions to create a soft
sexy look. For her cheeks, I used the cream cheek colour in the CHANEL
Multi-Use Makeup Palette in Paris- L.A, applying with a tapping motion
using my fingers.  Finally, her lips CHANEL Ultra-Wear Lip Colour in Rose
Agate."

HAIR:

“Wild Bohemian” look, created by Celebrity Hairstylist David Babaii for Couture Colour.

David began by applying Couture Colour Pequi Oil Treatment
and gently massaging it into the hair. The Pequi Oil Treatment
used prior to blow drying is Babaii’s secret for silky, shiny hair.

David then rough dried the hair with the Ionic Blow Dryer
for texture and volume. Next, he created a
center part and began taking random sections and wrapping
only the center portion of some of the strands (leaving the top
and ends free) around a 1” curling iron Alternating stands
were wrapped around the curling iron, leaving only the very
tips free. This was done to create uneven curl patterns. Once
the strand cooled, David ran his fingers up the strand creating
a “fanning effect”. To finish, he added additional
Couture Colur Pequi Oil Treatment to his hands and tousled the waves
for added volume, texture and hold.

GET THE LOOK: VANITY FAIR HOLLYWOOD ISSUE

My favorite issue of Vanity Fair Magazine, the Hollywood issue, has revealed it's coveted cover featuring 15 fabulous celebrities rocking old-Hollywood styled gowns and suits and makeup and hair 'do's to boot.

Hair guru Oribe was on hand to work his magic on all 15 of the talented men and women... and he's spilling his secrets on how you, too, can get the look:

INSPIRATION: The ‘30’s with polished, classic movie star styles for this star-studded cover shoot.

Oribe noted that for women of the cover, it was all about waves, curls and old Hollywood
glamour.  Oribe styled most of the actresses with a similar type of pincurl set then tweaked each
look to complement their individual style, personality and features.  The men wore their hair in
side parts for a groomed, Clark Gable inspired style.

GET THE LOOK:

Anne Hathaway – Anne’s look was created with a ’30s pincurl set.  I used a 1-inch-barrel curling
iron to curl her hair, section by section, spraying it with Oribe Soft Lacquer Heat Styling Spray
along the way. After I made each curl, I rolled it up and pinned it to the head. This helps lock
the curl into a soft, lasting wave.  After Anne’s makeup was done, I took down the curls and
brushed through with a Mason Pearson Boar Bristle Brush, shaping the wave to frame her face.
I sprayed Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray through the sides and ends of her hair to add volume and
softness to the ends to complete the look.

Jennifer Lawrence – Jennifer is a rising star – she’s amazing!  For her hair, I created a wave
similar to that of Anne’s and set it with Oribe Soft Lacquer Heat Styling Spray, but used a bigger
1.5-inch-barrel curling iron.  I pinned back the sides of her hair back to open up her face and
keep the look very soft.

Olivia Wilde – I wanted Olivia to have very glamorous movie-star hair. Again, I created a similar
wave and set with the same products, but I pinned one side back to tailor her look since she had
on a killer dress that was all cut out on the sides.  We wanted her hair to be wavy, but brushed
out and a little fuzzy for a classic, sexy style.

Mila Kunis – I kept Mila’s pincurl set flatter on top with big waves through the sides.  I used
a 1.5-inch curling iron to keep the style looking soft.  Mila is young and cool, so I wanted
something that felt easy and effortless but still had that sophisticated movie star quality.

Rashida Jones – Rashida’s hair was styled in the same way, but with a smaller ½-inch barrel
curling iron to add drama to her chin-length bob.  For her look we went for the classic Marlene
Dietrich length and texture.  She was very into it; the pin curls were great on her.  This was also
one of my favorites because the look was very strong.

Noomi Rapace – Noomi is extraordinary, her cheekbones and face shape are beautiful, so I
wanted her to have an elegantly shaped updo.  I also knew this style would look great from all
angles when shot from the back since Noomi was placed on the side, facing inwards.  I ran
Oribe Rock Hard Gel through her hair while it was wet, swept it back and twisted it, keeping the
style very sleek.  This look is very chic and it showcases her hair’s beautiful sheen.

To recreate most of the men’s styles, start with wet hair – it’s important to have a good haircut
that’s shorter on the sides and in the back. Run a generous amount of Oribe Gel Sérum through
the hair, make a side part and comb the hair into place. After you are satisfied with the shape
and angles, spray Oribe Soft Lacquer Heat Styling Spray all over to hold the look and maintain
great shine.

The only male actor with a different style was Jesse Eisenberg from The Social Network. He
had a fuller look and tons of hair, so he didn’t really want the style held too tightly to the head.
I used Oribe Rough Luxury Molding Wax on his hair, created a part, combed it a bit and kept it
very natural.

STYLE WATCH: ROARING 20's

My friend celebrated his 40th birthday this weekend with a fabulous fete fashioned in a roaring 20's theme. Guests went ALL OUT with incredible gowns, fishnet stockings, and head pieces galore. Theme parties can be SO fantastically fun!

What I found so interesting was the amount of red lipstick. Almost every mouth was painted with some hue of red. And the hair: either pencil straight (not quite 20's, but we went there) decorated with a head piece, or pin curled and tucked under. Eyes were mostly dark and subtly, a sign of the times, with lots of lashes and liner.

GET THE LOOK: JANUARY JONES

 At the Golden Globes 2010, January Jones definitely let it all hang out! And WOW did she look amazing.
Here, Frederic Fekkai stylist Renato Campora dishes on how to get the look:

INSPIRATION:

Campora was inspired by the styles of the 1960’s, which he believes is one of the most striking decades for beauty. His look created for January channels old Hollywood glamour, with a modern twist that is full of volume and timeless elegance.

HOW TO GET THE LOOK:

On wet hair, Campora began by applying Fekkai Advanced Full Blown Styling Whip to create volume and Fekkai Coiff™ Contrôle Ironless Straightening Balm to smooth out the hair.  He parted the hair to the side and blow dried using a round brush.  To create waves, he put hair in hot rollers and let them sit for 10 minutes.  Once he took the rollers out, Campora brushed through the hair creating volume and constructing shape for the style. To finish off her look, Renato sprayed Fekkai Coiff™ Sheer Hold Hairspray for all night hold.

"January's look was all about strength - there was nothing demure about it! I wanted to go for a super strong brow, and a high gloss red lip.  90's

Beauty Tip:
"The makeup was simple with two strong elements.  I prepped her skin with CHANEL Sublimage Concentrate. I then sculpted her cheeks with CHANEL Bronzing Makeup Base.  On her lids, I used a wash of champagne coloured shadow, CHANEL Soft Touch Eyeshadow in Liberty.  I created a strong, bold defined brow with the CHANEL Perfect Brows palette, and applied two coats of CHANEL Inimitable Intense Mascara in Noir.  Finally, I knew I wanted to go for a glossy red lip as opposed to a matte red, to keep the look fresh

Get The Look: Emma Watson

For all of you Harry Potter fans out there, here's a little beauty dish to tie you over until the release of the franchise's latest installment, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows."

Celebrity Makeup Artist Geoffrey Rodriguez created a "soft, 80's inspired look. We chose warm tones to complement her accessories which stood out beautifully against her simple black dress," says Rodriguez. "Emma's new hairstyle allows more freedom and creativity with her makeup."

GET THE LOOK: 

First, I prepped the skin with Dior Hydra Life Serum. Then I followed with DiorSkin Nude Foundation and Concealer. I applied Dior Skinflash #002 on top of her cheekbones to accentuate the softly-sculpted cheek which was achieved by applying DiorBronze just slightly under the cheekbones from the hair line followed by a dusting of DiorBlush on the apples of the cheeks and softly blending the two together. I wanted to keep the eyes subtle and warm so I used the Dior 5-Colour Palette in Five Golds to create a slightly elongated eye to complement her brows which I emphasized and elongated with Dior Brow Styler."

Get The Look: Jessica Biel

The beauty industry is in cahoots over Jessica Biel's newest hair color (although I don't find it that different from previous hues). None-the-less, she darkened her mane for winter as I'm sure most of you are planning on doing as well. I, on the other hand, have decided to go light this winter -- wanted to shake things up a bit!

Anyway, here are the deets on her new look, pictured here at the Glamour Reel Moments Event (NOTE TO SELF: Jessica is a brand ambassador for Revlon, hence all of the Revlon shout-outs):

HAIR:

Sebastian Stylist Design Team member Thomas Dunkin styled the tresses of actress Juliette Lewis for a vampy, textured look for the NYC premiere of Conviction. And she looks fab. Not overdone yet not too dont up, the hair s the perfect combination of sexy meets sophisticated.

Here's how you can get the look:

1. Begin by saturating the hair from root to tip with Sebastian Professional Volupt Spray

I'm going to be honest, I always thought Nikki Reed was hot, but I never thought she was pretty until seeing this picture (yes, hot and pretty are two very different things). The Twilight actress looks stunning at the Teen Vogue Party. I'm OBSESSED with her hair color - the honey-hued highlights are to die and compliment her skintone so perfectly. Not to mention the makeup which is so effortless ans subtle but still seductive and alluring.

Deets on the makeup by mark's Mai Quynh:

Face: “To create Nikki’s flawless-looking skin, I began by applying mark Face Xpert Flawless Touch Makeup in Honey with the mark Foundation Brush. I then used mark Good Riddance Hook Up Concealer in Light/Medium under her eyes and around her nose to completely even out her complexion. To create a beautiful rosy glow on the apples of the cheeks, I brushed on mark Just Pinched Instant Blush Tint in Peachy, followed by mark Bronze Pro Bronzing Powder in Bronze with the mark Angled Contour Face Brush. To set the look, I dusted mark Matte-nificent Oil-Absorbing Powder in Honey/Golden to her T-zone area with the mark Kabuki Brush.”

Eyes: “I really wanted to highlight Nikki’s gorgeous brown eyes and make them pop. I first prepped her eyelids with mark Please Hold Eye Primer in Light/Medium to ensure her makeup remained fresh and smear-proof throughout the event. Next, I applied mark I-Mark Custom Pick Eyeshadow in Biscotti to her inner eyelid, as a highlighter, using the mark Hook Up Eyeshadow Brush. I used the same brush to smudge mark I-Mark Custom Pick Eyeshadow in Java along the top lash line and Tiki to the lid and along the bottom lashes. I used the mark Angled Contour Eye Shadow Brush to soften the shadow upwards and into the crease. I finished off the look by rimming her inner lids with mark No Place to Run Longwear Eyeliner in Foxy Brown and applying two coats of mark Make It Big Lash Plumping Mascara in Raven to her lashes.”

Get The Look: Kristen Bell

Star of "You Again," Kristen Bell, has never looked better. Her strands are the perfect shade of blonde (not that over-bleached, bottle blonde look), her face is made-up but still youthful and this hair style gives her red carpet romanticism.

 mark Celebrity Makeup Artist Mai Quynh is responsible for the face. Here are the deets:

INSPIRATION: “Kristen was wearing a stunning yellow and white laced dress by Valentino, so I wanted to give her bold smoky eyes and subtle nude lips to compliment it.”

Face: “I started by applying mark See Things Clearly Brightening Moisturizer to her face, followed by mark Face Xpert Flawless Touch Makeup in Natural with the mark Foundation Brush for a gorgeous smooth finish. To even out any flaws and create a completely even canvas, I applied mark Good Riddance Hook Up Concealer in Light/Medium around her nose and under her eyes. I set her foundation with mark Powder Buff Natural Skin Foundation in Natural. After the powder had set the foundation, I dusted mark Bronze Pro Bronzing Powder in Pro Golden to her cheeks, chin and forehead, using the mark Blush Brush. For a natural looking blush, I dusted mark Good Glowing Custom Pick Powder Blush in After Glo using the mark Angled Contour Face Brush to her cheeks.”

Eyes: “To create Kristen’s smoky eye, I used several shades from the mark On The Dot Eye Color Compact. Using the mark Hook Up Eyeshadow Brush, I applied the cream colored shade to her inner eyelid for a highlighting effect and swept the bronze shade to the middle of her eyelid, blending outwards with the same brush. Next, I applied the dark brown shade to the outer corners of her eyes and blended into the crease and upwards towards the brow bone using the mark Hook Up Angled Eyeshadow Brush. I then smudged the same dark brown color underneath and along her lower lashes using the mark Flat Eyeliner Brush. I finished off the look with two coats of mark Scanda-Lash Hook Up Mascara in Blacklash.”

Lips: “To keep Kristen’s lips looking neutral and dewy, I used mark Lipclick Full Color Lipstick in Bare Hug.”

HAIR
Frédéric Fekkai’s Ange Grmoyles tended to the tresses.
INSPIRATION: An imperfect yet romantic style
GET THE LOOK:  Ange started by spraying Fekkai Advanced Full Blown Volume™ Lifting Hairspray to the roots of the hair and rough dried it with her fingers.  She then wrapped sections of hair around a one inch curling iron, leaving the ends straight.  Next Ange applied the Fekkai Au Naturel Dry Shampoo to the crown of her head and teased the hair before pinning the half up-do in place.  To shape the face, Ange left her bangs creating a romantic style.  To secure the look, she then applied Fekkai Coiff™ Sheer Hold Hairspray for all night hold.

GIRL CRUSH: Rebecca Hall

I loved her in Woody Allen's Vicky Christina Barcelona and I hope to love her just as much in Ben Affleck's The Town. Rebecca Hall is SO smoking she's practically on fire.

While doing press for her newest flick, Rebecca showed off a medley of different looks, from curly hair to straight, red lips to nude lips, but my favorite look comes from the Toronto Film Festival (pictured). The actress chose to wear her hair straight and to pair her red dress with a subtle eye and nude lip. It's all very natural and sophisticated yet somehow still manages to be very put together.

Makeup was created by Stephen Sollitto for NARS Cosmetics. He was going for a “modern and monochromatic for a vibe reminiscent of Studio 54.”

Fashion Week: Backstage at Jason Wu

One of my favorite looks so far is that of the models at Jason Wu. It's polished yet still young and fresh. The makeup is pristine and the hair is intricate and beautiful.

Here, Aveda lead hair stylist Odile Gilbert explains how you can get the look:

“The Jason Wu hair look for this season is simple yet sophisticated, with 1970’s inspiration. We’re braiding chiffon—scraps from the collection—into the hair and twisting the ends into a flower. This look captures the happiness and excitement of spring and summer.” –Odile Gilbert for Aveda–Odile Gilbert for Aveda

HOW TO GET THE LOOK:

1. Prep damp hair with Aveda Smooth Infusion™ Style-Prep Smoother™ for smoothness and to tame flyaways. Use a fine-tooth comb to create a strong, clean part on the right side of the head and then blow dry straight using a Mason Pearson brush. 

2. Pull hair tightly back and separate into four sections along the nape of the neck. Spray each with Aveda Air Control™ Hair Spray for shine and flexible hold.

3. Tie a long ribbon or piece of fabric—in a shade close to the hair color—around the top of each section of hair. 

4. One section at a time, braid the fabric through the hair and secure at the bottom with an elastic. Leave excess fabric out at the bottom of each braid. Spray each braid liberally with Aveda Control Force™ Firm Hold Hair Spray for ultra-strong hold.

5. Collect all four braids and tie the fabric into one large bow at the end to create a ‘flower.’

6. Pull the fabric ‘flower’ upwards and secure at the nape of the neck with hair pins, creating beautiful braided loops stemming from the flower. Finish the look with Aveda Control Force™ Firm Hold Hair Spray.

Q: What was your inspiration for this look? How did you collaborate with the designer to create the look?

“Jason’s collection was inspired in part by the 1970’s, so we wanted the hair for this season to reflect the hair of that era. Though the look is ultra-sophisticated, it’s also young and playful, with clean, slick hair in front and a mélange of braids and twists gathered into a gorgeous flower in back. The addition of Jason’s material completes the look, like chiffon highlights.” — Odile Gilbert for Aveda

Q: How could a woman achieve this look on her own?

“This look is very simple to recreate and works on anyone. Prep hair with Aveda Smooth Infusion™ Style-Prep Smoother™ and blow dry straight. Separate four sections of hair in the back and twist a piece of fabric into each. Leave a little fabric out at the ends and tie them together into a bow.
